2014 Wait For Me, Daddy Silver Coins in 1/2 Oz and 1/4 Oz Sizes

Last week the Royal Canadian Mint launched the 2014 $2 Wait For Me, Daddy circulation coin to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the declaration of World War II. The Mint is now selling two 99.99% pure silver versions produced for coin collectors.

All three coins share the same basic design that was inspired by Claude P. Dettloff’s iconic photograph taken during the Second World War. The photo, titled "Wait for me, Daddy," captures a young boy running away from his mother’s grasp to his father who is marching with other soldiers mobilizing for war.

These newest releases are in collector proof quality. They include a 1/4 ounce silver coin and a 1/2 ounce silver coin with selective color. In the larger coin the clothing of the mother, young boy and father are enhanced in burgundy, blue and green. Reverse inscriptions on the two coins include CANADA, 2014 and either 3 DOLLARS or 10 DOLLARS.

Obverses offer Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with inscriptions of ELIZABETH II and DG REGINA.

Specifications for the two silver coins are:
