2014 Autumn Allure Coin Ends Canadian Maple Canopy Series

Ending a series known for fast sell-outs, the Royal Canadian Mint has released its Autumn Allure coin, the fourth and final issue from its Maple Canopy series of silver coins.

Each coin is struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver and features an unexpected viewpoint of the colorful autumn canopy created by three towering maple leafs.

"Autumn is one of Canada’s most beautiful seasons that transform the landscape into a magnificent panorama of color," describes the Royal Canadian Mint website on the coin’s product page. "It’s a spectacle of yellow, orange and gold that lures people into the forests to experience nature’s artistry firsthand, and one of the best ways to view the canvas is to stand among the trees, looking up."

Mintage of the Autumn Allure coin is limited to 7,500. Previous Maple Canopy silver coins sold out quickly at the same level. The first coin in the series attained sell-out status in 7 days.

Maple Canopy: Autumn Allure Silver Coin Design and Specifications

Crafted by Emily Damstra, the reverse features an upward view of the autumn canopy of three maple leaf trees colored with hues of orange, yellow and gold. The bark of the trees offer enhanced detail and a lower branch shows glimpses of familiar maple leaves.

Inscribed on the trunk of the center tree is CANADA, the legal tender face value of 20 DOLLARS and the year 2014. Damstra’s initials appear on the trunk of the left tree.

Struck as legal tender, Susanna Blunt’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse. Inscriptions around the portrait include ELIZABETH II and D G REGINA.

ANZAC Spirit Coin Depicts First Convoy

New from the Perth Mint of Australia and its ANZAC Spirit 100th Anniversary Coin Series is a silver 50-cent piece remembering the first convoy to depart from Australia on November 1, 1914 to join Allied forces in the northern hemisphere.




Coins are composed of one-half ounce of 99.9% pure silver and, reflective of the centennial date, have a mintage limited to 1,914.

1990-2015 Kookaburra Silver Bullion Coin Designs

In 1990, the Perth Mint introduced Australian Kookaburra silver bullion coins, a 99.9% pure silver series that would become one of the world’s most popular by featuring annually changing Kookaburra reverses.

2014 Wait For Me, Daddy Silver Coins in 1/2 Oz and 1/4 Oz Sizes

Last week the Royal Canadian Mint launched the 2014 $2 Wait For Me, Daddy circulation coin to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the declaration of World War II. The Mint is now selling two 99.99% pure silver versions produced for coin collectors.



All three coins share the same basic design that was inspired by Claude P. Dettloff’s iconic photograph taken during the Second World War. The photo, titled "Wait for me, Daddy," captures a young boy running away from his mother’s grasp to his father who is marching with other soldiers mobilizing for war.

Perth Mint Gold Sales Hit 11-Month High in September

Australian sales of gold and silver was strong to soaring in September, according to newly released figures from the Perth Mint.


As investors took advantage of bargains due to diving gold and silver prices, they were also quicker to spend to get 2015 Australian Kangaroo Gold Bullion Coins. Citing high demand and low 2014 inventory, the Perth Mint released the 2015-dated gold coins on Sept. 15 instead of on the originally scheduled date of Oct. 6.

Gloria Scott Coin 5th in Ships That Never Sailed Series

New from the Perth Mint of Australia is the 2014 Gloria Scott 1 Oz Silver Proof Coin, the fifth issue in the Famous Ships That Never Sailed series. This program of silver coins is dedicated to "legendary tall ships bound in the pages of literature and the classical arts," the Perth Mint describes.

Shown on the proof coin’s reverse is a design depicting the Gloria Scott as featured in The Adventure of the Gloria Scott — one of the 56 Sherlock Homes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

2014 Silver Coin for 100th Anniversary of Hockey Canada

A new $20 silver coin celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, the precursor to today’s Hockey Canada.




The coin’s official unveiling happened at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, which also served as the association’s inaugural meeting one century ago on Dec. 4, 1914.

Mickey & Minnie Mouse Adorn Love-Themed Disney Coin

A new love-themed Disney coin by the Perth Mint of Australia features Mickey and Minnie Mouse kissing.




Officially licensed by Disney, the collectible one ounce 99.9% pure silver coin offers colorful images of the pair in a charming scene that is sprinkled with the words: "SMACK!," "Disney" "true love," "mickey + minnie," and "Love" again. Inscriptions near the coin’s left edge read: "1 oz 999 Fine Silver ©Disney."

Perth Mint Gold and Silver Bullion Sales Soften in October

Australian sales of gold and silver weakened in October, down from the previous month and from the same time last year, new figures from the Perth Mint show.



Demand tapered even as gold and silver prices tumbled last month, conditions that lifted U.S. Mint bullion sales to multi-month highs.

The Perth Mint of Australia has introduced a collectible silver coin celebrating the most recent incarnation of Doctor Who, the main character from a 50-year old entertainment franchise.


This new coin, titled the Doctor Who – Twelfth Doctor 2015 1/2 oz Silver Proof Coin, is struck from 99.9% pure silver and has a limited mintage of 4,000.

2014 Christmas Coin Includes ‘Augmented Reality’ for Smartphones

This year’s Christmas-themed coin from the Perth Mint of Australia celebrates the story of Santa Claus and his reindeer.



Struck in one-half ounce of 99.9% pure silver, the reverse of the 2014 50c Christmas Silver Proof Coin features a silhouette of Santa Claus and his sleigh led by Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
 

Canadian 2015 $20 for $20 Silver Coin Subscription Opens

The Royal Canadian Mint is now accepting subscription orders for 2015-dated $20 for $20 silver coins. Subscriptions, promotes the Mint, includes the "first-ever colored $25 for $25 coin and three $20 for $20 coins," plus free ground shipping within Canada and the US for all four coins.



Struck in 99.99% fine silver, the Mint’s series of $20 for $20 silver coins has been exceptionally popular and credited for a swell of new Royal Canadian Mint customers. Fourteen $20 for $20 coins have been issued since the series debuted in 2011. Their mintages have ranged from 200,000 to 250,000. Of the 14 coins, all but the 2014 $20 Summertime silver coin have sold out and the Mint reports that it’s at 99% of sales.
